GOVERNOR ISSUES EXECUTIVE ORDER TO CURB THUGGERY IN MINNA By His Excellency, Governor Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger State

 



In a bid to restore peace and security in Minna, the Governor has issued an executive order outlining measures to combat thuggery and related activities. The order, effective immediately, includes the following key provisions:


*Key Provisions*

1. *Possession of Weapons*: Individuals found with weapons, including knives and sticks, will be treated as armed robbers. If killed, their parents must pay for the bullet before the corpse is released.

2. *Dreadlocks*: Anyone with dreadlocks will be arrested and shaved.

3. *Curfew for Commercial Vehicles*: A curfew has been imposed on Keke Napep and Okada from 6 PM to 6 AM within Minna.

4. *Bail for Thugs*: Anyone seeking bail for thugs will also be arrested.

5. *Harboring Thugs*: Mai-angwa, Hakimi, or Village Heads found harboring thugs will be dethroned and arrested.

6. *Illicit Drug Sales*: Houses selling illicit drugs will be demolished, and occupants arrested.

7. *Special Court*: A special court will be established under the Chief Judge's supervision to handle thuggery cases for speedy judgment and imprisonment.

8. *Security Watch*: Angwa Daji and Barki Sale areas will be placed under serious security watch.

9. *Operation Flush*: This operation will now be directly under the Office of the Governor.

10. *Confiscation of Vehicles*: Vehicles carrying illicit drugs into Minna will be confiscated as government property.


*Implementation and Enforcement*

The government is committed to implementing these measures strictly to ensure the safety and security of Minna's residents. All law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities have been directed to enforce these provisions without exception.


The Governor urges all residents to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining peace and security in Minna. These measures are designed to protect the public and restore order in the state.
