OLOWU OF KUTA KINGDOM ADVOCATES FOR RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE AND UNITY DURING RAMADAN LECTURE

Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, has emphasized the importance of religious tolerance and unity during a Ramadan lecture held at his palace. The monarch urged Muslims and the general public to accept one another despite their differences in beliefs and religious understanding [1).

Oba Makama stressed that religion should unite people rather than divide them, condemning the habit of criticizing those with different religious views. He emphasized that true faith is demonstrated through love and acceptance, quoting, "We must always accept ourselves, no matter how we understand our beliefs and religion."

The event featured lectures from five clerics on unity and love, as well as the distribution of essential food items to numerous beneficiaries. This reinforces the monarch's commitment to community welfare and support during the holy month.

The Olowu urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period for reflection, promoting values of kindness and respect instead of condemnation. He reminded the faithful to avoid sin during and after Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of love, unity, and peace [1).

This message of tolerance and unity is especially important during Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection and renewal. By promoting love, acceptance, and understanding, Oba Makama is helping to build a more harmonious and inclusive community.
