*"ALESINLOYE MARKET FIRE: VICTIMS SET RECORD STRAIGHT, 90 AFFECTED, NOT 500; SEEK GOVERNMENT SUPPORT"*

Victims of the devastating fire incident at Alesinloye Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, have come forward to correct the number of people affected by the disaster. Contrary to initial reports that 500 people were affected, the victims claim that only about 90 people were impacted by the fire.

The clarification came during a meeting between the victims and the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal. The Deputy Governor directed the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (Oyo SEMA) to conduct a full enumeration and verification of the victims to get an accurate figure.

Barr. Lawal warned the victims to be cautious of misinformation and assured them that the state government would provide support. He also emphasized that the government would work with the victims to make life comfortable for them.

The victims, led by the Chairperson of the Plastic and Cooler Sellers Association in Alesinloye Market, Mrs. Taiwo Lawal, appreciated the government's concern and pleaded for the market not to be demolished. Instead, they requested to be allowed to rebuild their shops themselves.

The Oyo State Government has deployed bulldozers to clear the rubble and ensure the market is put in order. The government has also promised to engage with the traders on the redevelopment of the market.
